The Story of Our Cultural, Genetic Eve
"The Real Eve": 6 Billion People
From One African Woman
---------------------------------
As regulars to terryhowcott.com know, this film was here for a while, and was pulled from youtube.
It could happen again, so whatever you do, take the time to watch this in its entirety.
It is a breathtaking presentation of the story of the genesis of humankind as it evolved from one African woman . . . and her daughters . . . and her Granddaughters.
No other footage at this site is more moving for me.
This nine part series is narrated by actor, activist, Danny Glover.
We can excuse the continual references to humans as "man" and "humankind" as "mankind" as this is neither appropriate (nor is it truthful).
Also, for the record, and to nullify mistreatment of these images of the migration out of Africa, in which one might miscalculate that intellectual development of the world occurred outside of Africa, look here later for writings that help establish the opposite is true.
There are actually many works documenting ancient African intellect - generating the beginnings of mathematics, the arts and the sciences. Here are just a few links some of which flow to other sites that discuss a ancient African intellect and knowledge including this one at stanford.edu at African Kingdoms and Ancient Civilizations.
Here is a bibliography, Origins of Science and Math at Upenn.edu
Find Manuscripts of Timbuktu at Manuscripts, and there are a host of sites that make it all clear. More will be posted here later.
Share this link with our girls, and our boys, our women and our men.
But, consider that after ordering and watching this film on DVD, it was like seeing it for the very first time.
Online viewing does not begin to reveal the beauty.

Brotha' Kwame Zulu Shabazz tells us that this closeup image is of a Mende Woman in Sierra Leone. The image originates from the cover "of a wonderful book, "Radiance of The Waters," by the late Black art historian, Sylvia Boone.
Brother Shabazz goes on to say that "the book is a fascinating study of feminine beauty among the Mende people. Boone was politically engaged during the 60s -- she lived in Ghana along with Maya Angelou and a sizable cadre of African Americans."
Sister Boone he died tragically in her early 50's.
You'll see at this link that Dr. Boone had lifelong relationships with WEB Dubois and Malcolm X.
